Popular Rwandan disc jockey DJ Toxxyk is reportedly in police custody following a tragic road accident that allegedly resulted in the death of a police officer, according to information obtained by 3D TV RWANDA.
The incident is said to have occurred in the early hours of Saturday, December 20, 2025, shortly after the DJ had departed from an entertainment event held at Kigali Universe. Sources familiar with the matter indicate that the accident happened during the early morning hours when traffic was light, but visibility and speed were critical factors.
Eyewitnesses who spoke to 3D TV RWANDA claim that the vehicle involved was being driven at a very high speed. According to their accounts, the police officer was on duty at the time and attempted to stop the vehicle for routine inspection or traffic control. However, the driver allegedly failed to slow down or stop in time.
One eyewitness described the moment, saying:
“We left Kigali Universe around 5 a.m. As we approached the roundabout, his car suddenly overtook us at high speed. A police officer who was controlling traffic tried to stop him, but within seconds, the car hit the officer, and he died instantly.”
Following the incident, emergency responders and law enforcement officers reportedly arrived at the scene to secure the area and begin preliminary investigations. The injured officer was pronounced dead at the scene, according to accounts from individuals who witnessed the aftermath.
Sources further allege that DJ Toxxyk was arrested shortly after the accident and taken in for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are said to be examining multiple factors, including the speed of the vehicle, road conditions, and whether any traffic laws were violated at the time of the incident.
As of now, the Rwanda National Police have not yet issued an official public statement confirming the identity of the driver or providing detailed information about the accident. Law enforcement officials are expected to release verified details once investigations are completed and all facts are established.
